1. Don's a really nice guy, and had some suggestions for us to pursue. Compared to many motels in the rest of NZ, we found that this was expensive for what you get - it's a very basic room. This may have something to do with being in the 'glacier' area, where generally the prices seem to be higher than elsewhere. There were also no facilities in the motel, if the weather's bad, you only have your (fairly dark) room to stay in - or find a place somewhere in the village but the few pubs don't open till after 3pm.
