1. The room was clean and ample sized but the bathroom was not up to much. The toilet flush was broken (although it worked after a fight) and the shower worked from the taps but the bloody pull up thing to choose between the taps and the shower kept clicking back down and there wasn't much power to it. The staff were good though, especially the barman who was most helpful and friendly. Didn't have an evening meal in the restaurant but the breakfast was good. The problem really is that the hotel is heading out of York and is on a long main country road so there is nothing round about (i.e. other pubs). The grounds are lovely though (if the weather had been better!) Overall, I wouldn't go back again but more because of the location - I like to be in the centre. Lucy Lally, United Kingdom
